Hosea 7:13
Woe to them, for they have strayed from Me! Destruction is theirs, for they have rebelled against Me! I would redeem them, but they speak lies against Me.
This speaks of God’s salvific intent for unbelieving Israel, whom God called to turn back to Him.
It is also reminiscent of Matthew 23:37 as well: “‘Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling. Behold, your house is being left to you desolate! For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
Similarly, John 5:39-40 states: “‘You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.’”
For God, as described by Calvinism, to say that He “would redeem them” though while also creating one or more of the same as “non-elect” through an immutable decree by which there is neither any real intention that they would ever spend eternity with Him in Heaven (and even excluding them from a “Limited Atonement”) irreparably damages the credibility of God’s claim at Hosea 7:13.
